Park superintendent Grant Pearson homesteaded this prime land near Wonder Lake in 1957 for its fine view of Denali's crest and its proximity to Moose Creek. A small visitor facility was built on the site in the mid-'70s. In 1987 the Cole family purchased and renovated North Face Lodge to protect the land from unchecked development. Today, this modern north-country inn maintains a purposefully intimate size.
